Your gateway to the Waikōloa Stables riding program. Our private assessment lesson is thoughtfully designed for riders of all levels looking to join our community, refine their path, and find their ideal placement within our lesson programs, lease tracks, or community rides.
More than a simple evaluation, this comprehensive introductory session is an immersive introduction to horsemanship, connection, and safety at our historic ranch.
Every assessment is custom-paced to your comfort level and riding background, moving through three intentional phases:
30 Minutes | Groundwork & Tack-Up: Begin with safety fundamentals, herd dynamics, groundwork connection, grooming, and properly tacking your horse.
30 Minutes | In the Saddle: Transition into the arena or pasture for a personalized evaluation of your seat, balance, aids, and riding capability across walk, trot, and canter (tailored to your experience).
30 Minutes | Wind-Down, Untack & Horse Time: Conclude with a mindful cool-down, proper untacking, grooming, and unhurried connection time with your equine partner.

Assessment lessons are paid in full prior to the lesson. We require a 48-hour cancellation and rescheduling notice, as horses and trainers are specifically reserved for your appointment.
Long pants (breeches or comfortable riding jeans)
Paddock boots or closed-toe boots with a small heel (no flat-soled tennis shoes)
A refillable water bottle and sun protection
Note: Prior riding experience is not required; this assessment ensures we safely place beginners, returning riders, and advanced equestrians alike into the right program tier.
