An Invitation to Become Part of a New Holiday Tradition
This holiday season, 1832 Hawaiʻi Living Co. is introducing The Holiday Horse, an original Hawaiʻi Island tradition inspired by the horses, heritage, and extraordinary setting of Historic Waikoloa Stables.
Each year, one real horse will be chosen to become the Holiday Horse, inspiring an illustrated children’s story, an annual collectible keepsake, and a memorable family experience.
Our inaugural Holiday Horse for 2026 is Maverick.
We are inviting a select group of Kohala Coast resorts to participate as founding hotel partners and help introduce this new tradition to visiting families.
1. Meet Maverick — The First Holiday Horse
On the Kohala Coast, Maverick watches the holiday lights begin to sparkle below.
Curious about the magic of the season, he sets off on a journey from Waikoloa Stables toward the sea.
Along the way, he discovers that holiday magic isn’t found in the brightest lights or the biggest presents.
It’s found in kindness, connection, and the memories we create together.
Maverick returns home with a very special gift: the understanding of what makes the season truly magical.
And so begins the tradition of The Holiday Horse.
The Story Comes to Life
The Holiday Horse connects an original children’s story with a real place and a real horse.
Families can:
Discover Maverick through a beautifully illustrated holiday story.
Receive a digital story or collectible welcome gift at their resort.
Visit Historic Waikoloa Stables.
Meet the real Maverick and his horse friends.
Enjoy a story-led family adventure, holiday crafts, and optional pony encounters.
Take home a keepsake that becomes part of their family’s holiday memories.
Unlike a traditional holiday attraction, The Holiday Horse is rooted in Hawaiʻi Island’s equestrian heritage and designed to grow into a collectible annual tradition.
A Holiday Horse Has Found You
A special guest-room welcome experience.
A child arrives at the resort to discover a Holiday Horse story card or collectible keepsake.
The card reads:
A Holiday Horse Has Found You.
High above the Kohala Coast, something magical happens every December.
Meet Maverick, the First Holiday Horse, and discover his story.
A QR code opens the illustrated digital book and invites the family to visit Historic Waikoloa Stables to meet Maverick in person.
This creates a simple, memorable connection between the resort stay and an authentic Hawaiʻi Island experience.
The 2026 Maverick Collectible
Each year, a different horse will be celebrated through a dated, limited-edition collectible ornament or figurine.
The inaugural 2026 collectible features Maverick.
Designed as a meaningful holiday keepsake, it can be offered as:
A family arrival amenity.
A VIP or suite welcome gift.
